Hall Kids: Kelly Allen Hall - 1972 Tony Robert Hall - 1975 Grandchildren: Hannah Grace Hall 2002 Zoey Lee Hall 2002 Zane Robert Hall 2004 Where I have been since graduation; 1960s and 70s . . . . Off I went to the University of Idaho where I joined the Alpha Gamma Delta fraternity and majored in Art Education and Anthropology. I met Ken during my junior year and we have been a great partnership for 38 years. After graduation we took teaching jobs in Kellogg where I loved teaching junior high art for 8 years. During that time Ken got his masters and became principal at Mullan High School. This entire time we were both very active in the Democratic Party and worked for numerous candidates, but our favorite was Frank Church. Most weekends would find us on the road working for his re-election. In 1977 Ken was appointed by Governor Evans as Director of Public Works so we moved to Boise and I got to spend the next two years being a Mom. What fun that was, but then the opportunity arose for a new adventure. 1980s . . . . In 1980 I went to work as a field supervisor for the US Census Bureau and that rekindled a lifelong interest in the government. I not only trained and supervised crews of enumerators but also dabbled in cartography, another hobby of mine. When Ken accepted the Director of Facilities at the U of I a dream of returning to the parents were in Sandpoint everyone was happy to see us return to our home town. A Return to Moscow. . I began substitute teaching at good ol' MHS in the fall of 1981 and was hired as the Facilitator of Gifted Programs in 1985-1998. In addition to that position my next 15 years of assignments included classes in keyboarding, college prep, drawing and world history. In 1998 I decided that I missed the classroom so I started teaching US Government full time. Never, in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would spend most of my career teaching at Moscow High. I love teaching seniors! 1990s . . . . Ken left the U of I in 1995 to run our 2 businesses full time: The Emerald Gourmet (a kitchen and gift store in the Eastside Marketplace) and Ken Hall Construction. 2000s . . . .By 2000 we closed the store to handle the growth and projects in the construction company. Today Ken Hall Construction builds custom homes, business, frames, installs Hardy Plank siding and Trex Decking as well as working on many historical and regular remodels. And me, besides being a business partner and secretary for our corporation, Emerald Hall, Inc., I still teach Government at Moscow High School and enjoy every minute of it; senior sneak and all. I sure remember our sneak to Wallowa Lake and what a cold day it was. I remember watching the teachers all huddled around the campfire there cooking hotdogs . . . and none of them were wearing their usual jersey dresses! During vacations, when we are not at Coeur a Alene boating we are flying off to Florida to play with our children and grandchildren. Kelly is a police officer for Lee County in the Fort Meyer area and Tony installs water pumping systems for homes and industries in and around the Orlando area. Plans for retirement; date unknown, but I reach the rule of 90 in 2 years!; will include lots of travel, plenty of time to pursue my hobby of original card making, and seasons split between our home in Viola and Florida. |
