Gee, I don’t know where to start. I’ve lived and loved, won and lost. I’ve worked a variety of jobs, from helitack crew member to playing music & lights for a topless dancer in Puerto Rico (Lindy got me into that) to a short 2-yr stint as a pesticide investigator/inspector for Idaho Dept. of Agriculture. My favorite work was as an interpreter/naturalist for the Chugach National Forest in Alaska (9 summers). I worked there for 9 summers, until I was 70. I married twice, but have been single most of my life. I find these past years the most contented, yet the most challenging part of my life, as I lose good friends & mentors every year. I live in a small Mexican town & return to the U.S. to visit family & friends. I’ve been going there for 20 years & expect to spend more time there in the next few years. My community is there. I volunteer at a used bookstore that provides scholarships for local students. I’ll be there for my 19th yr. next winter. I’ve seen so many young students go on to university. It’s a very gratifying experience. I like to travel within Mexico and enjoy the kindness & friendliness of most of the people I meet. I’ve seen the Monarch butterfly sanctuary, many Mayan sites, Copper Canyons, Mexico City, and many other areas in this amazing, diverse country. I’ve been very fortunate, & I’m very grateful. Of course I have regrets, but right here, right now, I love my life and all the wonderful people with whom I share existence on this big blue marble. My goals now are to help people when I can and to just be kind. |
