Rest In Peace...
Mike Howard

The following was taken from the Friday, January 27, 2006 edition of the Lewiston Tribune.

Mike Howard, 58, Marysville, Wash.

Mike howard passed away on Thursday, Jan. 19th, 2006, at his home in Marysville with his family at his side. He was 58.

Mike fought the cancer battle in the same manner that he lived his life; with strength, dedication, style and a fierce determination......   and grace.

Mike was born in Moscow on July 17 1947, to George and Irene Howard.

He was preceded in death by his father who passed away on Oct. 23, 1950.

Mike is survived by his wife, Joanna; mother, Irene Johnson and stepfather, Earl; son Christopher and Aimee of Hayden Lake, Idaho; Daughters Michelle Sargent and Craig of Oregon City, Ore., and Jodi Mouchet of Post Falls, Idaho' stepson Marc Holder and Tracy of Mount Vernon, Wash.; and his stepbrothers, Doug and Denny of Coeur d'Alene.

Mike was very proud of his grandchildren and delighted in their presence. He will be deeply missed by Chelsea, Nathan, Emma, Ethan, John, Jordan, Olivia and Alex.

Mike was raised in Moscow where he attended grade school at the Ursuline Academy and graduated from Moscow High School in the class of 1965.

His career with the telephone company began in Moscow in construction. He later transferred to Coeur d'Alene and then to GTE in Everett, Wash.

Mike was an avid sportsman. He embraced and felt blessed by God's natural wonders of wilderness. He never stopped exploring or took for granted the beauty of the Northwest, its mountains, rivers, lakes and forests. There he felt the same excitement, wonder and respect of God's love, just as he had when he was a little boy in Idaho, sitting in his apple tree.

Mike's greatest pride, love and happiness were for his family, our beautiful environment and Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Whether he was taking a ride to Sturgis, to Idaho, or giving a friend a wild ride, Mike always has the biggest, shiniest, brightest and perfect running Harley on the road. His collection of Harleys was one of pride and gave him the freedom to travel, explore and continually experience life to its fullest.

His humor, strong beliefs, compassion and gentle touch will be sorely missed by his family and friends.

Mike and Joanna want to thank Mike's extended family at Verizon Communications and many friends for their cards, letters and support the provided during Mike's illness and fight against cancer.

In lieu of flowers Joanna, Mike and their family respectfully request donations be made to the American Cancer Society or to an organization of your choice.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
