After graduating from MHS and working as a sawyer for the US Forest Service, I attended the University of Idaho in Moscow and earned a BSEE in 1970. During this time I co-oped with Lockheed Missiles and Space Co. in Sunnyvale, CA along with Mike Jessup and a couple of other U of I EE's. I was granted a National Science Foundation Research Assistantship for my MSEE in 197, and received my PhDEE in control theory from Montana State University in 1974. Patty and I were married in 1969, and after we both completed graduate school at Montana State University, we moved to Huntsville, AL in 1974 (we thought temporarily!!) to raise our family and begin our careers. I worked for Teledyne Brown Engineering for two years as a systems analyst. As an Adjunct Associate Professor, I also taught graduate courses in Operations Research for 12 years in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at UAH. I worked for Dynetics, Inc. for four years where most of my work was in support of the intelligence community. In 1980 I joined SAIC where I am currently the Chief Engineer and
We have three married children with wonderful spouses! We became Auburn fans by investment, as all six kids collected a total of ten degrees from Auburn University. Our daughter, Krista, is the Missions Development Coordinator for a consortium of churches. The brothers, Larry and Kevin, are a Ph.D. electrical engineer and an Emergency Veterinarian respectively. As noted above, we have 5 grand-children; all curly headed creative, little gifts of God as are all the grand-crittters that come along with them.
We now live between the water and the woods along the shoreline of the Tennessee River where we love to kayak and ski and garden and have great adventures with our grandkids. We are active in our faith; I serve as a Stephen Minister in our church and Patty as a spiritual director and retreat leader. We love to travel for any reason. A highlight is time in Lithuania helping to re-establish a UMC church after their emancipation from the 50 years of communistic occupation. If you are ever in the South, come enjoy the tranquility of the southern Appalachian Mountains and the Tennessee River with us at The Porch @ Pine Island! Many thanks, Connie and Bill, for the gift of your time on the website! |
